No. 14 UNI wrestling at 2019 Division I National Championships

PITTSBURGH, Pa. — UNI wrestling advanced five Panthers on the championship side of the bracket of the Division I National Wrestling Championships.

The Panthers earned bonus points from Bryce Steiert with his fall at 165 pounds. Taylor Lujan and Drew Foster notched back-to-back major decisions at 174 pounds and 184 pounds.

Josh Alber and Max Thomsen both earned decisions in the first round to stay alive in the championships at 141 pounds and 149 pounds, respectively.

Jay Schwarm fell to No. 14 Michael McGee, the No. 12 seed from Old Dominion. It was just Schwarm's third loss by tech fall in his career.
The team was sitting in ninth place after the first round.Â
