CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – UNI softball dropped both of its games on Saturday in the Oklahoma State portion of the OSU/Tulsa Invitation.
Northern Iowa vs. McNeese State | Final Score – L, 7-5
The Panthers struggled defensively in their game against the Cowgirls, as they totaled four errors and allowed three unearned runs.
Erica Oler was the starter but lasted only an inning and a third as she gave up five hits and three runs (one earned). Brooke Craig came on in relief and pitched five and two-thirds innings while giving up four runs (three earned), on six hits and three walks. Craig struck out one batter.
The Panthers scored first but could not find much consistency with the bats. In the bottom of the first inning Courtney Krodinger singled through the left side that drove home Brittney Krodinger.
UNI tacked on another run in the bottom of the fourth inning on an error by the Cowgirls' third baseman that allowed Hannah Kelley to score.
C. Krodinger doubled in a run in the bottom of the seventh, and the Panthers added two more on back-to-back fielder's choice plays by the Cowgirls, but left the bases loaded in the inning to drop the game by two runs.
C. Krodinger was the only UNI batter to finish with multiple hits, as she went 4-4 with two doubles and two RBIs. Tianna Drahn tacked on an RBI and Sammey Bunch finished with two runs scored. It was the sixth game that Bunch scored two or more runs, in 2019.
Northern Iowa vs. Oklahoma State | Final Score – L, 12-0
