UNI-Dome Classic Renamed for Longtime Supporter

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – Head softball coach Ryan Jacobs Saturday announced the renaming of the UNI-Dome Classic after long-time Panther supporter Gaylon "Doc" Halverson.
"Doc is a huge fan of UNI Athletics," stated Coach Jacobs. "He has been invested in all of our programs for years and is extremely special to our softball program in many ways. He has invested so much more than financial support. He is a regular at every practice and game and is truly a part of our team every year."
Along with Halverson's support of the Panther softball team, he has been a member of the UNI football statistical crew for over three decades and a regular at most UNI athletic events.
He was recognized between games of the Classic which is in progress at the UNI-Dome this weekend. UNI President Mark Nook was on hand for the recognition.
The UNI-Dome Classic brings in 6 teams to play 15 games within 3 days. Doc Halverson Classic will kick off the 2020 season.
