UNI Women's Basketball Falls to Drake 76-61

DES MOINES, Iowa – Karli Rucker tied her career-high with 25 points and also contributed seven assists, three rebounds and a steal, but four Drake players scored in double figures and the Bulldogs pulled away for a 76-61 win over UNI in Women's basketball action Friday in The Knapp Center.
The Bulldogs jumped out with an 8-0 run and led 17-7 with 2:30 to play in the first quarter before UNI went on a 10-0 run to take an 18-17 lead after one.
After trading buckets early in the second, the Bulldogs went on a 12-0 run to take a 35-25 lead and never looked back. The Panthers cut the lead to 39-31 at the half, but Drake extended it to 58-46 after three and led by as much as 73-53 before UNI cut the final to the 15-point margin.
Along with Rucker's 25 points, Mikaela Morgan added 12. The Panthers were 22-62 (35.5 percent) from the field. The Panthers outrebounded Drake 41-37 Heidi Hillyard led the way with nine boards.
The Panthers are now 15-9 overall and 8-4 in MVC play. Drake moves to 19-5 and 11-1.
The game was the only one of the week for the two teams.
NOTES
- Rucker's 25-point performance is tied for the highest of her career and season. She scored 25 in the season opener against Delaware. This is her sixth 20+ point game of the year.
- Nine rebounds is a career high for Heidi Hillyard. She had previously recorded eight rebounds five times.
- A Drake player did not score 20 points for the first time in six games.
- The Panthers have now lost eight straight to the Bulldogs
