Panther Women's Basketball Meets Omaha Tuesday

UNI women's basketball faces Omaha in the second of a two-game swing in the city. UNI opened the weekend with a 57-54 loss to Creighton. The Panthers are now 5-3 on the year after opening the season 5-0. UNI meets an Omaha team that is 4-6 on the season but are 3-1 at home on the season. They own wins over Peru State, Morgan State, Mississippi Valley State and Kansas City. It is just the sixth meeting in series history.
• The Panther led much of the second half, but gave up a 12-0 run to close out Sunday's game and fall to Crieghton by three. Kam Finley had a game-high 16 points to lead UNI.
• The Mavs ae coming off of a tough road loss at Eastern Illinois. Omaha has been tough at home and are led by Claire Killian who averages 9.9 points per game. Five Omaha players average 5.0 rebounds per game or better.
• Kam Finley leads the Panthers with 13.0 points per game. Karli Rucker is second on the team with 11.0 PPG and Megan Maahs is third on the team at 10.1 PPG. Bre Gunnels leads with 6.1 rebounds per game and Maahs is averaging 4.8 RPG.
• UNI returns 2018-19 First-Team All-MVC honoree Karli Rucker and 2017-18 First-Team All-MVF honoree Megan Maahs to court. Maahs returns after missing most of the 2018-19 season with an injury.
• The Panthers are ranked 15th in the NCAA in free-throw percentage at 78.6%. UNI is also 17th in the NCAA with 9.0 Three-pointers made per game.
• UNI has played in postseason play in nine of the last 10 seasons, including an appearance in the WNIT in 2019 where the Panthers met Minnesota in the first round.
• Karli Rucker is the leading returning scorer at 15.0 points per game for the 2018-19 season.
• UNI plays games against five power- five conference teams, the most in the MVC. The Panthers picked up wins over Mizzou and Iowa in their first two games. After last weekend's meetings, UNI faces Iowa State on Dec. 22.
