Sixth-ranked UNI Football advanced to the quarterfinals of the FCS playoffs with a come-from-behind road win over South Dakota State in the FCS Second Round. The Panthers advance to face second-ranked James Madison on the road in Harrisonburg, Va. The Dukes rolled their second-round opponent Monmouth 66-21 to earn a trip back to the quarterfinals for the first time since 2017.
• South Dakota State jumped out to a 10-0 first quarter lead and appeared to be off to the races before the UNI defense found its footing with two second-quarter takeaways to stem the tide. The Panther offense put together a pair of five-plus minute drives in the second half, including one that set-up an 18-yard field goal with 2:10 remaining in the game to give UNI the 13-10 win. Â
•UNI is making its 21st Playoff Appearance and the fifth in six seasons. The Panthers have the second most playoff appearances of all time behind Montana and head coach Mark Farley has the most playoff wins among active FCS head coaches and the fourth-most all-time (17). UNI is now 21-5 all-time in the playoffs in the UNI-dome after defeating SDSU.
 • The win over Southern Utah was Head coach Mark Farley's 150th career victory.  He is the winningest coach in UNI and Missouri Valley Football History and the 10th coach in FCS history with 150 FCS victories. The win against Western Illinois was his 99th Missouri Valley Football/Gateway Conference win.Â
 • UNI is 7th in the FCS in total defense, 7th in scoring defense, 30th in tackles for loss and 16th in sacks. After six games with three or more turnovers, the Panthers are now 4th in the FCS and first in the MVFC in turnovers gained. Â
 Â
 • Isaiah Weston and Chris Kolarevic are building resumes for comeback player of the year honors. Weston missed all of last season and through 12 games sits atop the MVFC in receiving TDs and atop the FCS in yards per catch. Kolarevic has played in just nine games, but is third on the team in total tackles and earned a pair of MVFC Player of the Week honors.
