Cavey Named MVC Newcomer of the Week

ST. LOUIS – UNI graduate transfer Kristina Cavey was named the Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week after helping the Panthers win a pair of games over power-five opponents and the first 4-0 start since the 1998-99 season. UNI also picked up its first win over Iowa since 2006 and the first win over an SEC school since 2001.
Cavey was 2-6 from the field against Mizzou and added four rebounds, an assists, two blocks and two steals for an all-around solid game.
She scored 14 points in 17 minutes on 6-7 shooting in the win over Iowa. She also recorded three rebounds and a pair of assists against the Hawkeyes. Cavey is a graduate transfer from Fresno State.
The Panthers host DII NW Missouri State Sunday at 3 p.m. at the McLoed Center.
