CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – UNI men's basketball signed three recruits to a national letter of intent on National Signing Day. UNI welcomes Tytan Anderson, Bowen Born, and Nate Heise to the Panther family.
"What a great day for our program," said Head Coach Ben Jacobson. "We are adding three terrific young guys to our hoops family. Ty, Bo, and Nate have all demonstrated the discipline, determination and toughness it takes to impact the people around them. We are getting three very good basketball players, but more importantly high character young men."
Nate Heise, Guard, Lake City, Minnesota
Nate Heise is a 6'4 guard from Lincoln High School in Lake City, Minnesota. Under the direction of Head Coach Greg Berge, Heise has led the Tigers to two state tournaments. Heise averaged 22 points, 6.7 rebounds and 4.5 assist per game during his junior campaign, earning Hiawathe Valley League Player of the Year honors while also being named to the 2018-19 All-State and All-Tournament Teams. Nate is the son of Tony and Amy Heise.
"We got a really good one in Nate!" said Jacobson. "He has a little bit of everything in his game. He has a tremendous feel for passing, shoots it with great range, handles the ball and has a tremendous competitive nature. Nate has all of the intangibles that are so valuable on the floor, in the locker room and with the day to day of our program."
Tytan, Anderson, Forward, Eldridge, Iowa
Tytan Anderson is a 6'6 forward out of North Scott High School. Tytan led the Lancers to a 4th place finish in the State Tournament a season ago under Head Coach Shamus Budde. He was named 2nd Team All-State in his junior season, averaging 13.7 points per game and hauling in 8.2 rebounds per game. Tytan is the son of Tim and Tiffany Anderson.
"I love watching Ty play," said Jacobson. "He's willing to fight and scrap for every possession. He wants to guard the other team's best player and refuses to back down from any challenge. We look forward to adding his mentality to our group. Ty also brings versatility to the offensive end of the floor. His ability to handle and pass the ball fit perfectly with our last two recruiting classes."
Bowen Born, Guard, Norwalk, Iowa
Bowen Born is a 5'11 guard from Norwalk High School. Bowen has led the Warriors to back to back state tournaments earning 2nd Team All-State honors as a sophomore and 1st Team honors his junior season. He led the Warriors to the championship game last season, earning a spot on the All-Tournament Team. Bowen has had a successful prep career under Head Coach Chris Larson averaging 27.3 points 3.8 assists, and 1.9 steals per game as a junior. Bowen is the son of Mike and Vicki Born.
"Bo is one of the best we've seen in our state in a long time," said Jacobson. "He is a relentless worker and has tremendous passion for the game, his teammates and for winning. You watch Bo play and you can't help but get excited as he carries himself with great confidence and has so much fun playing. He's got great natural instincts and leadership qualities that allow him to impact the game in so many ways."
