THE ROADRUNNERS
- Rod Barnes' squads have now been to the postseason in three of the past four seasons including CSUB's first Division I NCAA Tournament berth in 2015-16, a historic run to the NIT semifinals in 2016-17, and a three-game road swing to the CIT quarterfinals last season.
- In the last two trips to the postseason, the `Runners have posted a 5-2 record despite playing all seven games on the road.
- With a 50-50 split of returners and newcomers, Barnes will look to his core of veterans to lead the way.
- Shawn Stith, a 6'8 forward, has averaged 22 points per game for the Roadrunners, dropping 18 against Notre Dame de Namur and 26 against South Dakota State.
- Taze Moore has finished with 18 and 22 point games while leading the Roadrunners in steals with 9.
- De'Monte Buckingham is the team's captain and was named the 2017 Atlantic-10 Rookie of the Year before transferring to CSU Bakersfield from the University of Richmond.
- Buckingham has recorded 59 minutes, shooting .428 from the field and .333 from beyond the arc. Buckingham has also hauled in a team high 14 rebounds and 11 assists.
THE PANTHERS
- UNI moves to 2-0 on the season after defeating the Huskies of Northern Illinois.
- Isaiah Brown went 6-8 from the field and 5-6 from three against the Huskies of Northern Illinois. Brown led the Panthers with 17 points.
- Austin Phyfe continues to play well in his return to the court following a medical redshirt a season ago. The redshirt sophomore is shooting .556 from the field and leads the Panthers with 15 total rebounds.
- Tywhon Pickford finished with an all-around stat line against Northern Illinois, Pickford shot 50% from the field for 9 points, hauled in 6 rebounds and recorded 3 assists and 1 steal.
- AJ Green was named to the Lou Henson Award Preseason Watch List. The Lou Henson Award is presented annually to the nation's top Division I mid-major player.
- The Panthers return four MVC award winners from last years team.
- AJ Green: All-Freshman, All Newcomer, Third Team All-MVC, Freshman of the Year.
- Spencer Haldeman: MVC Sixth Man of the Year.
- Isaiah Brown: All Defensive Team
- Luke McDonnell: Most Improved Team
- The Panthers were selected to finish 3rd in the MVC Preseason Poll.
- Sophomore, AJ Green, was named Preseason First Team All-MVC. The lone Panther to make the preseason list.
- Ben Jacobson enters the season ranked fifth all-time in MVC coaching victories with 268. Jacobson also ranks fifth in the league record book for MVC-only wins with 139 triumphs.
