Panther Men's Basketball Improves to 3-0

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The Uni men's basketball team moved to 3-0 on the season after defeating the Roadrunners of CSU Bakersfield 67-55 inside the Mcleod Center on Wednesday night.
The Panthers struggled shooting the ball in the first half, going just 8-27 from the field and 6-21 from behind the arc. The Panther defense held its own, holding off the Roadrunners 24-22 going into halftime. The Panthers forced seven Roadrunner turnovers in the opening 20 minutes with Austin Phyfe, Isaiah Brown, & Antwan Kimmons recording a steal apiece.
The offense picked up in the second half when AJ Green converted a 4-point play & a three-pointer in 20 seconds to give the Panthers a 41-29 lead with 15:35 remaining in the game. Eight minutes later Spencer Haldeman hit a three-pointer make gave the Panthers a 14-point lead at 56-42. The Panthers would go out to a 15-point lead after an Isaiah Brown free throw with 5:30 remaining in the game.
Spencer Haldeman led the Panthers with 15 points while AJ Green and Trae Berhow each finished the night with 14 points. Isaiah Brown continues to lead the Panthers defensive efforts, hauling in a team-high 7 rebounds and one steal. Brown added 11 points on the night, shooting 3-4 from three.

The Panthers, now 3-0, will host the Bears of Northern Colorado in the McLeod Center on Saturday, November 16. The Panthers and Bears have played just two times in program history, with the Panthers coming out on top in both contests. The contest will tip-off at 12 pm and can be viewed on ESPN3.
