Panthers Move to 5-0 in MVC

CARBONDALE, Illinois - The UNI volleyball team defeated the Salukis of Southern Illinois on Saturday night, sweeping the MVC rival with set scores of 25-16, 25-19, 25-15. Now 5-0 in the Missouri Valley Conference the Panthers stand alone atop the conference leader board.
The Panthers offense worked efficiently on Saturday night, finishing with a .319 hitting percentage as a team while holding the Salukis to just .136. The Panther defense had a big night recording 59 digs compared to the Salukis 46 and out blocked the Salukis 10-6.
Karlie Taylor led the Panthers with 14 kills while Kate Busswitz finished with 11 kills and a .526 hitting percentage. Inga Rotto added 8 kills on 17 swings for a .412 hitting percentage while Emily Holterhaus added 6 kills.
Emily Holterhaus and Kaylissa Arndorfer led the Panther blocking effort, finishing with 3 total blocks apiece. Libero Abbi Staack tallied 19 digs while Karlie Taylor and Rachel Koop each totaled 10 digs.
Rachel Koop finished with 41 total assists in the three set victory.

The Panthers now get to get to enjoy a three match homestand, hosting the Braves of Bradleyand the Redbirds of Illinois State next week in the McLeod Center and the host the Bulldogs of Drake the following week.
