THE BULLDOGS
• The Drake Bulldogs are riding high in 2018-19, off to a 12-4 start the Bulldogs have wins over Texas State, Boise State, New Mexico State and won a 110-103 shootout with San Diego.
• The Bulldogs are 1-2 in MVC play after defeating the Salukis of Southern Illinois 82-70 on Tuesday.
• Nick McGlynn and DJ Wilkins are the only two players to start every game for the Bulldogs this season. McGlynn has made 55 percent of his shots this season and leads the Bulldogs in scoring with 16.4 points per game.
• Wilkins has done his damage from beyond the three-point arc, making 36 three-pointers in the team's first 16 games.
•The Bulldogs are led by first-year Head Coach Darian DeVries. DeVries, an Iowa native and veteran coach with experience in the BIG EAST and Missouri Valley Conferences, became the head coach of the Drake University men's basketball program on March 29, 2018.
• DeVries inherited a Drake roster with just one returning starter but quickly assembled a staff and team poised to elevate the Bulldogs' trajectory.
•DeVries' first recruiting class included a junior college All-American, graduate transfers with all-conference pedigrees, a 7-footer, and international talent.
• Before taking over the Bulldogs' program, DeVries was an assistant coach at Creighton University for 17 years and spent 20 total seasons on staff with the Bluejays. During that span, he helped guide the Bluejays to 19 postseason appearances and 12 NCAA Tournament berths.
