UNI Swim and Dive Defeats Illinois State, 194-105

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa— Resetting the Glen F. Henry pool records in seven events, the UNI swimming and diving team swam to a 194-105 victory over Illinois State.
Katie Taylor would lead all competitors in the 100 backstroke, timing in at fifty-five seconds, and eighty-five hundredths (55.85). Taylor timed in at 2:01.17 in the 200 backstroke, leading all competitors. In the 200 IM, Taylor lead the competition, swimming a 2:04.85 for first-place. All of Taylor's times this afternoon would break the Glen F. Henry pool records.
Jordan McCullough would lead all competitors in the 200 freestyle, timing in at 1:55.84.
Moriah Ross swam into first-place in the 100 breaststroke, swimming a 1:04.14. Ross would break the pool record in the event.
Crystal Florman took top honors in the 50 and 100 freestyles. In the 50 freestyle, Florman swam a 23.49, while timing in at 51.34 in the 100 freestyle. In the 100 butterfly, Florman timed in at 56.43, earning first-place in the event. Florman's swims in the 100 butterfly and 50 freestyle would reset the pool records at UNI.
In the distance races, Kylie Engstrom would take the top spot in the 1000 freestyle, swimming a 10:33.02. McCullough would take top honors in the 500 freestyle, swimming a 5:12.20. Engstrom would take second in the 500 freestyle, timing in at 5:13.92.
The Panthers would take first-place in both relay events this afternoon. Taylor, Ross, Florman, and Abby Meyer would time in at 1:45.17 in the 200 medley relay, resetting the pool record at UNI. In the 400 freestyle relay, Ross, Engstrom, Jenna Willer, and Meyer would time in at 3:36.95, nearly six seconds ahead of Illinois State for top honors.
Meyer would take runner-up honors in the 100 freestyle, timing in at 54.49.
In the 200 butterfly, Kelsey Ostrowski would lead the Panthers, timing in at 2:13.10 for third-place.
In the diving well, Alyssa Deuso lead the Panthers on the 1-meter boards scoring a 241.26 for second-place. Jayden Lovell took third on the boards, diving a 239.77. Mary Kate Ferlmann dove a 222.29 to round out the Panthers. On the 3-meter boards, Lovell would lead the Panthers with a dive score of 263.25 for second-place. Deuso dove a 260.40 for third-place. Ferlmann earned a score of 219.37 to round the Panthers out.
Madison Rinaldi swam a 2:09.13 in the 200 backstroke, taking second-place in the event.
Sam Galvin timed in at 2:00.23 in the 200 freestyle, swimming into third-place.
Anika Lillegard-Bouton timed in at 10:47.30 in the 1000 freestyle, taking third-place in the event.
Lauren Havertape took third in the 100 breaststroke, timing in at 1:09.06.
Rinaldi would take third-place in the 100 backstroke, timing in at 59.33.
