
Swim and Dive Hosts Illinois State for Senior Day

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa— The University of Northern Iowa swimming and diving team (5-2, 1-0 MVC) will host Illinois State for Senior Day on Jan. 19 at 2 pm.
The Redbirds of Illinois State (5-2, 1-1 MVC) will face Iowa State on Jan. 18 before traveling to UNI. The Redbirds and Panthers have met Omaha this season, with a combined over 100 point victories.
Last season, the Panthers and Redbirds tied last season in Normal. Katie Taylor captured first-place finishes in the 100 backstroke, 200 backstroke and 200 IM in the event. Crystal Florman earned the top spot in the 50 freestyle. Kylie Engstrom led the Panthers in distance races, swimming to a first-place finish in the 500 freestyle.
On the diving board, Jayden Lovell and Alyssa Deuso had strong finishes on the 1-meter boards, earning second and third places.
Last Time in the Pool
The Panthers captured first-place finishes in eight events when they competed against Iowa State. Taylor led the way with three first-place finishes in the 100 backstroke, 200 backstroke, and 200 IM. Ross, Florman, and Engstrom would swim to first-place finishes in their respective events.
