LINCOLN, Neb. – Taylor Lujan knocked off his highest ranked opponent of the season, but No. 14 UNI wrestling fell to No. 11 Nebraska, 22-12.
Â
UNI falls to 2-3 overall (2-0 in Big 12). Nebraska is now 7-2 overall and is 1-1 in the Big Ten.
Â
At 125 pounds, Jay Schwarm kept the match tight against two-time All-American Zeke Moisey. Nebraksa got the early lead with a takedown in the first period and a reversal late in the second. Down 4-0 to start the third, Schwarm got a takedown late in the period, but riding time pushed Moisey up 5-2 over Schwarm for the early team lead for Nebraska.
Â
Jack Skudlarczyk sparked a three-match win streak with a sudden victory win at 133 pounds for UNI. Nebraska pulled Jevon Parrish's redshirt to face Skudlarczyk. Skudlarczyk trailed 6-3 to start the third period but got an escape and a late takedown to tie it up with 30 seconds left in the match and send it into sudden victory. Skudlarczyk got the takedown needed for the 8-6 decision.
Â
A penalty point against Nebraska for hands to the face gave UNI's No. 8 Josh Alber a 1-0 lead after the first period against No. 20 Chad Red Jr. in the 141-pound match. Alber's two takedowns propelled him to a 6-4 decision over Nebraska's All-American to give UNI its first lead in team scoring. Red was seventh at last year's national championships. Â
Â
No. 8 Max Thomsen was the first to strike at 149 pounds and led the entire match to beat Collin Purinton, 10-4.
Â

Â
UNI dropped the final three matches to secure the win for Nebraska. The Panthers continue to lead the series with the Huskers, 29-17-1.
Â
Nebraska is coached by former UNI coach Mark Manning. He was with UNI for three seasons from 1997 to 2000 and compiled a 23-24-2 dual record and produced UNI's last NCAA champion, Tony Davis in 2000.
