UNI Softball Raises Funds for Training Software
8/1/2018 9:49:00 AM | Softball
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The UNI softball team is conducting a crowdfunding campaign to purchase training software.

Fans have until 11:59 p.m. Aug. 24 to donate.

Iowa weather forces UNI softball to do the majority of its off-season training indoors at a recently renovated indoor facility. The facility is a huge asset to the program, as it enables student-athletes to work out as a team and as individuals. However, it is hard to get the feel for hitting and pitching outside inside the facility. That can change with the purchase of Rapsodo.

Rapsodo provides cutting-edge technology used by premier programs such as Alabama and Oregon. It can track a pitcher's pitch movement and the distance a batter's contact would travel.

While the fundamentals would be the same, Rapsodo allows student-athletes to train more effectively and efficiently and brings the field view indoors to give more realistic feedback. Rapsodo measures, tracks and evaluates student-athletes in real time and stores the information. This allows for instant coaching and the ability to see growth over a week, season and year-to-year.

This technology will be a game-changer for the UNI Softball team and will be another tool that will help the team compete and win at the highest level.

All funds raised that exceed the project's goal with support UNI Softball equipment needs. Donations are being accepted at pawprint.uni.edu/softball.
