Craig Dominates Redbirds, Panthers Win Series

CEDAR FALLS, IOWA – The Panthers (25-23, 10-12) captured a series victory against the Illinois State Redbirds (19-30, 10-12) on Sunday, in a 6-1 win.
Northern Iowa Panthers vs. Illinois State Redbirds | Final Score – W, 6-1
Brooke Craig collected her fourteenth win of the season in the victory against Illinois State. Craig pitched all seven innings, allowing only one run, on six hits and two walks. Craig was able to pitch to contact, as she struck out only one batter. The complete game was number eleven on the season for the junior right-handed pitcher.
The Redbirds' lone run came in the third inning on a double to left center. Illinois State would be held scoreless for the remainder of the game.
In the bottom of the second, Courtney Krodinger homered to left field for her first long ball of the season. It was a two-run home run which drove in Adara Opiola.
Four of UNI's six runs in the game came in the fourth inning. Jenny Kohl was hit by the pitch with the bases loaded, driving in a run. Sammey Bunch followed with a two-run single into left, and Kennedy Bailey reached on a fielder's choice RBI.
The Panthers were able to capture their fourth MVC series victory of the season, and the first since April 21-22 against Indiana State.

The Panthers travel to Carbondale, Illinois for their final MVC series of the regular season, before the conference tournament kicks off in Des Moines, Iowa.
