TROPHY CLUB, Texas - The University of Northern Iowa women's golf team finished in first place at the ORU/SFA Spring Break Shootout.
The Panthers blew away their competition in all three rounds of the tournament as runner-up UT-Arlington's final team score of (944) fell quite short of UNI's score of (922). UNI's three-round sweep resulted in three top-10 finishes and the team's first outright win since October 29, 2012, at the Braun Intercollegiate in Boonville, Indiana.
Paige Van Dyk, who finished in second place overall, recorded her season-low after finishing at an even (72) today. The senior also carded four birdies on day three.
Right behind her is Maddie Bertsch, who is no stranger to finishing in the top-10, as her fourth place finish marks her third-consecutive top-10 appearance. Bertsch also notched a pair of birdies on the afternoon, aiding to her score of 2-over (74).
Emily Snelling joined her teammates Van Dyk and Bertsch in the top-10, as her 7-over (79) performance in round three sent her home with sole possession of eighth place overall.
Sarah McMichael jumped from 20th place to 11th on day three, as she tied her career-low of 2-over (74) in the final 18 holes. McMichael, too, notched a duo of birdies in the final round.
Individual's Sydney Eaton and Anne Gradoville both tied for 24th and 28th place overall. Eaton shot 5-over (77) on the day, while Gradoville finished just a few strokes behind at 7-over (79).
Hannah Bermel settled in at 37th place as her 11-over (83) finish in the final round resulted in a final score of (251) on the tournament.
NEXT UP: The Panthers will head to Weaverridge Golf Club in Peoria, Illinois, for the Bradley Spring Invitational on March 30-31.
