UNI Men's Basketball Falls to Old Dominion

NORFOLK, Virginia – The Panthers traveled to Old Dominion University after completing their three-game slate at the Paradise Jam last week. The Panthers and Monarchs played twice in the last five days, with the Panthers coming out on top in the first meeting at the Paradise Jam. The Panthers were unable to copy Monday's success and fell Friday night 72-65.
The Panthers started fast on Friday night, making four of the team's first five shots and jumped out to a seven-point lead in the first five minutes of play. The Panther momentum stalled and the Panthers entered halftime trailing the Monarchs 34-33.
The Panther offense continued to struggle in the second half, scoring just eleven points in the first ten minutes of second half. The Panthers were outscored 38-32 in the second half, falling by seven points.
The Panthers shot 40.4% from the field as a team with freshman AJ Green shooting 7-14 from the field and 4-8 from beyond the arc for 18 points. Luke McDonnell was the only other Panther to record a double-digit point total, finishing the 12 points McDonnell went 3-6 from the field and 5-6 from the free throw line.
Trae Berhow ended the game with nine points while Wyatt Lohaus and Spencer Haldeman each finished with eight points. Lohaus also led the team with four assists on the night.
Defensively AJ Green led the team with seven rebounds and one steal while Wyatt Lohaus recorded the team's only block of the night.

The Panthers will stay on the road, playing in Logan, Utah on Wednesday, November 28 against Utah State. The Aggies are 5-1 this season, losing 87-82 to Arizona State on November 21. Junior guard Sam Merrill leads the Aggies in scoring this season, averaging 22.2 points per game. Dwayne Brown Jr is the only other Aggie to average double-digit point totals with 11.5 points per game.
