UNI Swim and Dive Starts Strong in South Dakota

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.. —The University of Northern Iowa women's swimming and diving team began day one of competition at the South Dakota quadrangular.
The Panthers started off strong, earning eight first-place finishes in individual races.
Crystal Florman swam to first place finishes in the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly events. Florman swam a time of twenty-three seconds and 94 hundredths of a second. Florman was two seconds ahead of the competition in the 100 butterfly, timing in at 57.21.
Jordan McCullough swam a time of 10:53.73 in the 1000 freestyle, swimming into first place.
Kylie Engstrom swam into first place in the 200 freestyle, timing in at 1:57.38.
Engstrom and McCullough would take first and second in the 500 freestyle. Engstrom swam a 5:12.63, while McCullough timed in at 5:17.56.
Katie Taylor took first place in the 400 IM, swimming 10 seconds ahead of the competition. Taylor timed in at 4:26.17. Taylor would also take first in the 100 backstroke, swimming a 55.55.
Moriah Ross took first in the 100 breaststroke, swimming a 1:05.12. Ross took second in the 100 freestyle, swimming a 54.93.
Taylor, Ross, Florman, and Rachelle Houlette swam into first place in the 400 medley relay, timing in at 3:53.42.
The Panthers relay of Lauren Kacmarynski, Abby Meyer, Ashleigh Houlette, and McCullough took second in the 200 freestyle relay, swimming a 1:40.09.
Annika Lillegard-Bouton would take third place in the 1000 freestyle, timing in at 10:58.82.
Meyer and Jenna Willer would finish side-by-side in the 100 freestyle. Meyer swam a 55.81 in the event, while Willer timed in at 55.87. Â
Madison Rinaldi would finish in the Top 5 in the 100 backstroke, swimming a 1:00.25.
Diving
Jayden Lovell would lead the Panthers in the diving well, taking second place on the 1-meter boards. Lovell dove a 226.15. Mary Kate Ferlmann dove a 177.45 in the event.
Lovell would take fourth in the 3-meter boards, diving a 240.30. Ferlmann would finish in the Top 10 in the event, diving a 221.70.
