UNI Football Hosts Missouri State for Senior Day

THE GAME
UNI closes the regular season with a senior day game against Missouri State at the UNI-Dome. The Panthers are coming off of a 31-10 loss on the road at Youngstown State. Missouri State is 4-6 on the year and 2-5 in Missouri Valley Football Conference Play. MSU has lost four straight games, including losses to South Dakota State and North Dakota State in the last two. Missouri State's four wins came against Lincoln (Mo.), Northern Arizona, Illinois State and Indiana State.Â
UNI holds on to playoff hopes based on the top strength of schedule in the FCS and impressive wins against South Dakota State, Illinois State and Indiana State.Â
Missouri State is led by quarterback Peyton Huslig who has thrown for 2,041 yards and 13 touchdowns on 161 completions. He is also the Bears' second-leading rusher with 369 yards and six touchdowns on 125 carries. Jason Randall has 371 yards and five touchdowns on 81 carries.Â
The MSU defense ranks 113th in the nation, giving up 481.3 yards per games, including 229.5 rushing yards per game. Â Claudio Martin has 6.0 sacks to lead the Bears and Angelo Garbutt has team-high 88 tackles.Â
UNI is 4-1 in the dome this season with the only loss coming against No. 1 North Dakota State.Â
Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. CT.

• The Panthers are receiving votes in both the FCS Stats poll FCS Coaches' Poll.
• Running back Marcus Weymiller, offensive tackle Cal Twait, quarterback Eli Dunne and linebacker Duncan Ferch were announced as captains for the 2018 season by head coach Mark Farley.Â
• Over his 18 seasons at UNI, head coach Mark Farley has amassed a 54-10 mark in November. Farley has gone undefeated during November 10 times (2001, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2017) while having a losing record once during the month (2002).
• By multiple computer rankings, UNI has the toughest schedule among FCS schools. Massey has the Panthers as No. 1 ranked strength of schedule in the FCS. Sagarin, who does just Division I rankings and doesn't distinguish between FBS and FBS, has UNI rated as the 104th toughest schedule overall, ahead of every other FCS school and edging out FBS top-25 schools UCF (106) and Utah State (124).
• In the Farley era, UNI is 16-1 against Missouri State with the lone loss to the Bears coming in 2005. The last win for MSU in the UNI-Dome came in 1998.Â
• UNI leads the series 32-5.
• The Panthers are 4-0 when scoring a defensive touchdown and every MVFC win has come with a defensive score. Two of the defensive scores came from Duncan Ferch. His pick-six is the fourth of his career which ties Deiondre' Hall (2012-15) for the UNI career record.  The Panthers are now tied for second in the FCS and first in the MVFC in defensive touchdowns scored. Against Indiana State, Ferch scored on a pick-6, against South Dakota, Brawntae Wells recovered a fumble in the end zone and Saturday Xavior Williams returned an interception 30 yards for a touchdown.Â
• UNI tallied consecutive shutouts for the first time since 2008 with wins over Hampton and Indiana State. The Panthers went nine quarters without giving up a point.Â
• Eli Dunne is 166-278 (59.7 percent) on the season for 1,977 yards and 15 touchdowns. He has thrown just five interceptions on the season. In conference play, he has been even more efficient, throwing 127-207 (61.4 percent) for 1,562 yards and 10 touchdowns.Â
• Special Teams have shined for the Panthers. UNI has yet to allow a blocked punt or field goal this season. UNI is 18th in the FCS in Kickoff Return Defense and 23rd in Net Punting. Austin Errthum leads the Valley in field goals with 15 and has the highest percentage at 82.4 percent (15-18) of teams with over 10 attempts. He also leads the conference in kickoff average (63.5 YPK), Net (41.9 YPK) and touchbacks (34).Â
• Austin Errthum earned MVFC Player of the Week honors for hitting four field goals and picking up six touchbacks against Illinois State.
• Duncan Ferch was named the MVFC Defensive Player of the Week after notching 13 tackles and three pass breakups against South Dakota State.Â
• Cal Twait was named the Missouri Valley Conference Lineman of the Week after leading the Panther O-line unit in a dominant performance over Indiana State.
• Deion McShane was named the MVFC Newcomer of the Week after picking up seven catches for 117 yards and a touchdown against Hampton.Â
