UNI Football Falls at Western Illinois, 37-17

Quarterback Eli Dunne was 22-33 for 218 yards, two interceptions and a touchdown.
Marcus Weymiller was the bright spot on the offense rushing 16 times for 96 yards and a touchdown. He also tallied three catches for 21 yards and a score.
Western Illinois quarterback Sean McGuire was efficient, throwing 25-32 for 300 yards and a pair of touchdowns. WIU running backs 102 yards on 35 carries and three TDs.
The first half was a back and forth battle. UNI went up 10-7 on a touchdown from Dunne to Weymiller with 12:35 left in the second quarter. The Leathernecks responded with a touchdown less than a minute later on a 69-yard touchdown pass and never trailed again.
WIU built a 37-10 lead before UNI scored on a Weymiller touchdown run with 1:52 left in the game to close out the scoring.
Nick Fossey had seven receptions for 69 yards to lead the receivers. Kendrick Suntken and Christian Jegen tallied a team-high 13 tackles each. Seth Thomas notched the lone sack on the day.
The loss moves UNI to 4-4 on the year and 3-2 in Missouri Valley Football Conference play.

The Panthers host Illinois State in a crucial game 1 p.m. Nov. 3 at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls.
NOTES
Eli Dunne did not throw an incompletion until well into the second quarter. He started 8-8.
Austin Errthum missed a 24-yard field goal wide left in the first quarter, and it was the first time all season that the Panthers failed to score in the red zone.
Kendrick Suntken and Christian Jegen set a new career high with 13 tackles each. Suntken entered the game with just 13 tackles on the season and Jegen was at 15 to date.
The Panthers are now in a three-way tie with Western Illinois and South Dakota State for second in the Missouri Valley Football Conference Standings.
