
Panthers Win with Late Goal against Jackrabbits

Waterloo, Iowa--The University of Northern Iowa women's soccer team scored late in the second half to secure a 1-0 victory over the Jackrabbits of South Dakota State.Â
The lone Panthers goal was made by Brynell Yount at the 84-minute mark. Yount's goal marks her fourth of the season and her tenth as a Panther. Sydney Hayden nabbed the assist for her second of the season.Â
Between the posts, Jami Reichenberger continued her defense of the Panthers net, with six saves in tonight's match-up.Â
"We found a way to get a win when we weren't at our best," commented UNI head coach Bruce Erickson.Â
It was a defensive battle between the Panthers and the Jackrabbits. The Jackrabbits and Panthers matched on saves at six. The Panthers outshot the Jackrabbits by only one at 12-11.Â
"They played us as well as anyone has played us to this point," stated Erickson.
The Panthers host Montana on Sept. 10 at 12 p.m. at the Cedar Valley Soccer Complex. Â
