UNI Wrestling Signs Schoenfelder and Yant

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – UNI wrestling signed two more Panthers for the 2017-18 season. 18788

Patrick Schoenfelder and Austin Yant will wrestle next year for UNI.

PATRICK SCHOENFELDER is the first state champion from his high school in Illinois. He is a four-time state qualifier coming off a prep title at 160 pounds. He was fourth as a sophomore and second as a junior. He graduates with the most career wins at Antioch High School in Antioch, Illinois. He is a three-sport athlete having run cross country and track while competing in wrestling. He is the son of Steve and Kathy Schoenfelder.

AUSTIN YANT is a four-time state medalist from Waverly, Iowa. Yant placed in four different weights as a prep at the state tournament: seventh at 106 pounds in 2014, sixth at 133 pounds in 2015, second in 2016 at 132 pounds and third in 2017 at 153 pounds. He capped off his prep career with a USAW Junior Folkstyle National title at 160 pounds. He notched 185 wins in his high school career. Yant is the son of Cayle and Darleen Yant.

Schoenfelder and Yant will join Triston Lara, Keaton Geerts, Derek Holschlag and Jack Skudlarczyk.
