UNI Wrestling Signs Lara of Fort Dodge

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – Three-time state medalist for the state of Iowa Triston Lara has signed a National Letter of Intent to wrestle for UNI and head coach Doug Schwab starting the 2017-18 season.
The Fort Dodge native is looking for his second state title following his win at the Iowa High School State Championships last year. He started his prep career at 106 pounds and took fourth at his first state meet. As a sophomore, he moved up to 113 pounds to take second in Class 3A. Last year, he earned his first state title, wrestling at 126 pounds.
At the 2014 Iowa/USA Kids/Cadets tournaments, he was sixth in freestyle and fourth in the Greco-Roman division. In 2015, he won the Greco-Roman division at the Iowa/USA Junior State tournament and took third in the freestyle division. He was second in both divisions in the 2016 Iowa/USA Junior Greco-Roman and Freestyle tourneys.
Lara joins a trio of top recruits in Keaton Geerts, Derek Holschlag and Skudlarczyk.
