Weekly Earns CoSIDA Academic All-District

COSIDA – Senior women's basketball guard Madison Weekly has been named to the 2016-17 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Women's Basketball Team, it was announced today.
The teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. The honorees are divided into eight geographic districts across the United State and Canada, with Weekly earning a spot on the District 6 Team.
First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, where first, second and third team All-America honorees will be selected later this month. Along with representing the Panthers, Weekly is also representing the Missouri Valley Conference on the list of distinguished student-athletes.
Weekly, who is majoring in accounting with a 3.82 GPA, has been a force and mentor for the Panthers on and off the court during her time in Cedar Falls. She is currently a finalist for the 2017 Senior CLASS Award and is a two-time MVC Scholar-Athlete.
The 2016 MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Year has been a member of the MVC Honor Roll every season she has been a part of the program and is also a three-time Commissioner's Academic Excellence Award.
On the court, she currently ranks in the top-10 all-time at UNI in career points (1,604), scoring average (14.1 ppg), field goals made (517), three-pointers made (233), free throws made (337), assists (301), games started (100) and minutes (3,417). This season she is averaging 15.5 points per game, ranking No. 3 in the league. She is also ranked in the top-20 in the country in assist/turnover ratio.
Weekly and the Panthers return to action on Friday, Feb. 10 when they host Bradley for their annual Play4Kay game. Wear Pink and get to the McLeod Center for the 7 p.m. tip off.
