CEDAR FALLS, Iowa. – Northern Iowa quarterback Eli Dunne has been named the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) FCS National Performer of the Week, after his four-touchdown game on Saturday against Monmouth.
The junior was the top player among five other quarterbacks, Anthony Lawrence (San Diego), Joe Carbone (Stony Brook), Chandler Burks (Kennesaw State), Chris Streveler (South Dakota) and Stefan Cantwell (Weber State) who all earned honorable mention below Dunne.
UNI's Dunne shredded the Hawk defense after completing 18-of-26 passes for 260 yards and four touchdowns, with the majority of his gaudy numbers coming in the first half. Senior Daurice Fountain was Dunne's favorite target, as he caught 10 passes for 139 yards and two scores. Dunne led the Panther offense to eight-straight scoring drives to open the game and give UNI the 39-0 advantage.
This season, Dunne has passed for 2,417 yards and 25 touchdowns. The Panther signal-caller has earned eight games this season with multiple scores through the air, while throwing at least four touchdowns in three games.
Dunne currently ranks 10th all-time for career passing touchdowns at UNI, while his 25 touchdowns through the air this season are tied for fifth-most in a single season.
