UNI Women Tie for MVC Fall Preview Title

NEWTON, KS. - The University of Northern Iowa women's golf team rallied from an 11-shot deficit in the third round to tie Wichita State for the title at the 2017 MVC Fall Preview.
The Panthers posted a final round score of +10 (298) to catch the Shockers, who posted a final round score of +21 (309). UNI and Wichita State played the 54-hole tournament to identical team scores (907). The tournament was played at Sand Creek Station Golf Course in Newton, Kansas.
"It was an exciting round," UNI head coach John Bermel. "We kept coming back. Just when I thought we were out of it, we would charge back and make another birdie."
UNI had three players earn top-10 finishes in Sarah McMichael (T-6th), Paige Van Dyk (T-8th) and Emily Snelling (T-8th).
McMichael shot 4-over (76) in round three. McMichael posted birdies at No. 9 and No. 18.
VanDyk and Emily Snelling both followed tied for 8th place. VanDyk shot 3-over (75) and Snelling shot 2-over (74). Van Dyk had birdies at No. 3 and No. 6, while Snelling recorded birdies at No. 5, No. 11 and No. 16.
Sydney Eaton carded a team-best four birdies on the day en route to a 1-over (73). Eaton scored her birdies on No. 3, No. 5, No. 17 and No. 18.
