Box Score WATERLOO, Iowa- The University of Northern Iowa women's soccer team continued scoring goals at home today, defeating South Dakota 3-0.
The Panthers scored early in the 6th minute on a Marianne Gagne goal from just outside the six yard box. The ball, sent in from a corner bounced around the box before being slotted home.
UNI would double its lead on a pass fed from Brynell Yount to Sarah Brandt, which Brandt blasted past the keeper in the 20th minute.
The team scored its third and final goal 30 seconds after halftime on a fantastic shot from Jenny Wick.
Maddie Lesjak started the game in goal, while Whitney Blunt took over for the second half. The two combined to pitch the shutout, combining for four saves.
The Panthers look to continue their home unbeaten start to the season this Wednesday against Midland University. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. at the Cedar Valley Soccer Complex.
