UNI Places 9th at MVC Women's Golf Championship

CHICAGO, Ill. - The University of Northern Iowa women's golf team placed ninth at the 2016 Missouri Valley Conference Championship. The 54-hole tournament was contested at the Harborside International Golf Center (Port Course) in Chicago, Ill.
The Panthers posted a team score of 322 on Tuesday for a three-day total of 936. UNI finished one shot out of eighth, two shots out seventh, seven shots out of sixth and nine shots out of fifth.
Sophomore Paige Van Dyk was the lone Panther to break 80 in the final round as she tallied a final-round 79. Van Dyk registered birdies at No. 1, No. 11 and No. 16 en route the seven-over round. She tied for 32nd overall with a three-round score of 237.
Junior Allison Rolinger ended up as UNI's top finisher in a tie for 22nd overall with 233 strokes. Rolinger shot a final-round 81 that included a birdie at No. 10.
Senior Sonja Przybylski tied for 30th as she notched a final-round 80. Przybylski secured a birdie at the third hole on Tuesday. Przybylski played the 54-hole tourney in 236 shots.
Freshman Sarah McMichael concluded her first collegiate campaign in a tie for 34th. McMichael scored an 82 and recorded 238 strokes in the tournament.
Sophomore Maddie Bertsch buried a pair of birdies at No. 7 and No. 18 en route to her final-round 82. Bertsch tied for 39th with 240 strokes. Bertsch recorded a team-best eight birdies at the MVC Championship.
Wichita State claimed the team title and will advance to the NCAA Regional.
