The Basics: The University of Northern Iowa tips off the 2016-17 season with a road trip to Indianapolis, Ind. to take on the IUPUI Jaguars on Friday, Nov. 11. The game is set to start at 6 p.m. CT.
About IUPUI: The Jaguars return three of their five starters from last season after finishing 2015-16 21-11 overall and third in the Summit League. IUPUI advanced to the second round of the WNIT, eventually falling to San Diego. They return two of their three top-scorers from last season in senior Danielle Lawrence (13.2 ppg) and junior Mikale Rogers (12.5 ppg).

The Panthers signed Bre Gunnels (6-1, Kansas City, Mo.), Nicole Kroeger (5-10, Palmyra, Mo.), Marissa Robson (6-1, Oregon, Wis.), Karli Rucker (5-6, Eldridge, Iowa) and Riley Wheatcraft (5-11, Prior Lake, Minn.).
Preseason Recognition: The Panther women's basketball team was picked to finish second in Missouri Valley Conference play during the 2016-17 season. UNI has been voted in the top-half of the standings in the MVC preseason poll nine out of the 10 years that head coach Tanya Warren has been at the helm. Madison Weekly was named preseason All-Conference.
At the Helm: Tanya Warren enters her 10th season as the head coach of the Panthers holding an overall record of 162-130, earning her third MVC Coach of the Year honor in 2015-16.

Megan Maahs put in seven points with two blocks with Hannah Schonhardt leading the team in boards with seven.
Second Quarter Success: Davison scored seven of her 12 points in the second quarter while the Panthers held Maryville to just one field goal in the period. UNI outrebounded Maryville 13-4 in the second quarter also holding the Saints to nill from the arc.
