WICHITA, Kan. - The University of Northern Iowa volleyball team finished off a season sweep of the Wichita State Shockers on Friday with a 3-0 triumph at Koch Arena. UNI won by set scores of 26-24, 25-18, 27-25.

UNI (18-7 overall, 9-3 MVC) got a match-high 14 kills from senior Amie Held and Heather Hook added a double-double with 33 assists and 10 digs.

UNI trailed 20-13 in the third set before mounting a furious comeback. UNI scored five in a row to trim the lead to 20-18. Wichita State pushed the lead back to 23-20 before another 4-0 spurt gave the Panthers a 24-23 lead. UNI scored the victory at 27-25 on its third match point. UNI tallied the winning points on a combined block from Lindsey Schulz and Piper Thomas.

Wichita State (15-7 overall, 8-3 MVC) was limited to a .148 hitting percentage in the match, while the Panthers contributed a .168 hitting percentage. The Shockers Jody Larson posted 10 kills to lead the home squad.

The Panthers have won a season-best eight matches in a row and it's the longest winning streak for UNI since a 24-match win streak in 2011.

The victory moved UNI into sole possession of second place in the Missouri Valley Conference standings - only 1/2 game behind the Missouri State Bears. UNI and Missouri State will square off Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Hammons Center in Springfield, Mo.

NOTES: It was Hook's seventh double-double of the season and the 18th of her career ... UNI has won seven of its last eight matches at Wichita State.
