CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - The No. 8-ranked University of Southern California improved to 6-0 on the season with a 3-0 sweep of the University of Northern Iowa women's volleyball team in the finale of the UNI Tournament. USC won by set scores of 25-19, 25-14 and 25-16.
UNI (2-4 overall) fell into a three-way tie for second in the tournament's final standings with Kentucky and Creighton. UNI's Kayla Haneline was named to the All-Tournament team.
USC won all three of its matches in the UNI Tournament with three-game sweeps. USC's Samantha Bricio was named the All-Tournament Team MVP. Bricio tallied 11 kills in Saturday night's match vs. UNI.
The Panthers were led by Heather Hook's 27 assists, Amie Held's 20 digs and Kayla Haneline's eight kills.
UNI will be back in action next week at the Butler All-American Classic in Indianapolis. UNI will take on Cincinnati (Friday at 1 p.m. CT), Butler (Friday at 5 p.m. CT) and Illinois-Chicago (Saturday - 1 p.m.).Â
