Panther Tennis Nets 7th Straight Win; UNI Tops Chicago State, 4-1

HOMEWOOD, Ill. - The University of Northern Iowa women's tennis squad captured its seventh straight victory and moved to 9-3 on the season with a 4-1 win at Chicago State on Friday.
UNI's top two doubles teams each won their third consecutive matches to boost the Panthers to a doubles' point over the Cougars. The No. 1 doubles duo of Erica Medlin and Elvira Lopez cruised to an 8-1 win over Faith Huckabee and Lorea Gamboa. The No. 2 team of Jieke Stroobant and Astrid Santos tallied an 8-5 triumph over CSU's Matea Roki and Hanemas Pangestu.
The Panthers were able to close out the dual triumph with singles wins at No. 1 (Medlin), No. 3 (Stroobant) and No. 4 (Santos). Stroobant captured her seventh consecutive victory and improved to 10-2 on the year.
UNI will be in action on Saturday at 2 p.m. against Detroit in Homewood, Ill.
