CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - The University of Northern Iowa men's basketball team ran its win streak to five in a row with a 93-70 victory over the North Texas Mean Green on Monday in the McLeod Center.

UNI (5-1 overall) overcame a two-point halftime deficit and blitzed North Texas in the second half, 52-27. Both squads shot lights out on the evening with the Panthers shooting 55.6 percent and the Mean Green hitting 51.9 percent. The Mean Green cooled off in the second half making 35.7 percent of their shots, after draining 18-of-26 (69.2 percent) in the first half.

UNI used a 17-4 run in the second half to turn a 49-49 tie into a 66-53 lead with 11:40 left in the game. UNI capped an 18-3 run with 3:36 left in the game on a Matt Bohannon three-pointer that left the Panthers ahead 84-62.

Panther sophomore center Bennett Koch notched a career-high 18 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the floor and 8-of-10 shooting at the foul line. Koch added five rebounds, an assist and a blocked shot. Junior guard Jeremy Morgan also stuffed the stat sheet with 15 points, eight rebounds, three steals, two blocks and an assist. Senior guard Matt Bohannon drained 6-of-8 from the field, including 4-of-5 from three-point land to tally 16 points.

UNI will travel to Richmond, Va., to take on the Richmond Spiders on Saturday at 5 p.m. (CT).

NOTES: UNI scored 90 or more points in back-to-back games for the first time since the 1993-94 season when the Panthers posted a 92-72 win over Bradley and then a 102-79 win at Drake ... UNI has made at least one 3-pointer in 501 straight games ... Wes Washpun handed out a game-high seven assists and is now averaging 6.5 assists per game ... Paul Jesperson missed his first free throw attempt of the season snapping a streak of 17 consecutive free throws made, dating back to last season ... UNI out-rebounded North Texas, 33-22 ... UNI drained 24-of-28 free throws, while UNT was limited to 5-of-10 at the foul line.
