HIGHEST RANKED OPPONENT EVER AT HOME
When the North Carolina Tar Heels take the floor Saturday, it will mark the highest-ranked opponent to ever play a game in Cedar Falls.
   The two previous times a top-10 team has played in Cedar Falls came Dec. 9, 1997, came when UNI defeated No. 10-ranked Iowa, 84-78, and on Feb. 8, 2014, when the No. 4-ranked Wichita State Shockers knocked off the Panthers, 82-73.
MARCUS PAIGE CONNECTIONS
North Carolina senior guard Marcus Paige played his prep basketball at Linn-Mar High School as a teammate of current UNI Panther Matt Bohannon.
   Paige's mother, Sherryl, an English teacher at Marion Independent Schools and former head girls basketball coach, earned her master's in English at UNI in 2008.

   UNI is 11-6 at home against ranked opponents. The Panthers have won three of their last four home games against ranked foes.

   Morgan scored a career-high 20 points in UNI's season-opener vs. Colorado State (Nov. 14).
   Morgan then added 14 points in UNI's 70-60 win over Stephen F. Austin (Nov. 17).
   If Morgan can score in double figures against North Carolina, it would mark the first time in his Panther career that he has scored double figures in three consecutive games.

WASHPUN CAN SCORE IT, DISH IT
Senior guard Wes Washpun is averaging 16.5 points per game and 5.0 assists per game through UNI's first two contests.Â

NON-CONFERENCE SLATE
UNI will face one of the nation's toughest non-conference schedules in 2015-16.
   UNI began the season with an 84-78 loss to Colorado State (Nov. 14). UNI then scored a 70-60 win over Stephen F. Austin in ESPN's 24 Hours of College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon (Nov. 17).
   This Saturday, UNI will take on No. 1-ranked North Carolina in the McLeod Center.
   The Panthers will also tangle with No. 7-ranked Iowa State (Dec. 19) in Des Moines.Â
   UNI will play road games at Richmond (Dec. 5), at George Mason (Dec. 8), at New Mexico (Dec. 12) and at Hawaii (Dec. 23).Â
   UNI could also take on No. 8 Oklahoma in its second game at the Diamond Head Classic in Honolulu.

   The last time UNI failed to make a 3-point basket came Feb. 3, 2000, vs. Southern Illinois in a 72-58 Panther victory in the UNI-Dome. UNI went 0-for-4 from 3-point land vs. the Salukis in that contest.Â

The McLeod Center will celebrate its 10th anniversary this season and the Panthers have made winning a priority in their home venue.
   UNI has posted an all-time mark of 113-29 (.798) in games played in the McLeod Center.Â
   UNI secured a school-record 16 home wins in the 2012-13 season. The previous mark of 15 home wins was set in the 1989-90 season.Â
   UNI has posted a trio of perfect home seasons since moving to NCAA Division I. UNI was a perfect 14-0 in both the 1983-84 and 2009-10 seasons and then UNI notched a 15-0 mark at home last season.
   UNI set its home-court win streak of 21 consecutive victories between the 2008-09 and 2010-11 seasons.
   The McLeod Center opened in November 2006.

WASHPUN EARNS H.M ALL-MVC PRESEASON HONORS
UNI senior guard Wes Washpun has been named as an honorable mention All-Missouri Valley Conference preseason honoree.
   Washpun, who was named the MVC's Sixth Man of the Year in 2014-15, averaged 7.6 points per game. He ranked second on the team in assists (91) and blocks (17), while ranking third in steals (34).
UNI OPENS UP WITH 70-50 EXHIBITION WIN OVER TRUMAN STATE
UNI scored a 70-50 exhibition victory over Truman State in the McLeod Center on Nov. 1
   Matt Bohannon scored a game-high 15 points and Wes Washpun added nine points and 10 assists in the 20-point victory. Bennett Koch scored eight points and collected seven rebounds. Ted Friedman came off the bench and scored 10 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the floor, while grabbing five rebounds.
   The Panthers had their largest lead of the day at 61-37 with 7:27 left in the game after Koch drained a pair of free throws.
UNI MBB IN APR TOP-10 PERCENTÂ
The University of Northern Iowa men's basketball, men's golf, women's golf, women's cross country and women's volleyball teams have been recognized by the NCAA for their latest multi-year Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores. These teams posted multi-year APR scores in the top 10 percent of all squads in their respective sports.
   The UNI men's basketball team has been recognized with a perfect APR score (1,000) in each of the last three seasons - the only MVC school to do that in each of the past three years.
   The APR provides a real-time look at a team's academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete on scholarship. The APR accounts for eligibility, retention and graduation and provides a measure of each team's academic performance.

UNI will face one of the nation's toughest non-conference schedules in 2015-16.
   UNI began the season with an 84-78 loss to Colorado State (Nov. 14). UNI then scored a 70-60 win over Stephen F. Austin in ESPN's 24 Hours of College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon (Nov. 17).
   This Saturday, UNI will take on No. 1-ranked North Carolina in the McLeod Center.

   The last time UNI failed to make a 3-point basket came Feb. 3, 2000, vs. Southern Illinois in a 72-58 Panther victory in the UNI-Dome. UNI went 0-for-4 from 3-point land vs. the Salukis in that contest.Â

The McLeod Center will celebrate its 10th anniversary this season and the Panthers have made winning a priority in their home venue.
   UNI has posted an all-time mark of 113-29 (.798) in games played in the McLeod Center.Â
   UNI secured a school-record 16 home wins in the 2012-13 season. The previous mark of 15 home wins was set in the 1989-90 season.Â
   UNI has posted a trio of perfect home seasons since moving to NCAA Division I. UNI was a perfect 14-0 in both the 1983-84 and 2009-10 seasons and then UNI notched a 15-0 mark at home last season.
   UNI set its home-court win streak of 21 consecutive victories between the 2008-09 and 2010-11 seasons.

WASHPUN EARNS H.M ALL-MVC PRESEASON HONORS
UNI senior guard Wes Washpun has been named as an honorable mention All-Missouri Valley Conference preseason honoree.
   Washpun, who was named the MVC's Sixth Man of the Year in 2014-15, averaged 7.6 points per game. He ranked second on the team in assists (91) and blocks (17), while ranking third in steals (34).
UNI OPENS UP WITH 70-50 EXHIBITION WIN OVER TRUMAN STATE
UNI scored a 70-50 exhibition victory over Truman State in the McLeod Center on Nov. 1
   Matt Bohannon scored a game-high 15 points and Wes Washpun added nine points and 10 assists in the 20-point victory. Bennett Koch scored eight points and collected seven rebounds. Ted Friedman came off the bench and scored 10 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the floor, while grabbing five rebounds.
   The Panthers had their largest lead of the day at 61-37 with 7:27 left in the game after Koch drained a pair of free throws.
UNI MBB IN APR TOP-10 PERCENTÂ
The University of Northern Iowa men's basketball, men's golf, women's golf, women's cross country and women's volleyball teams have been recognized by the NCAA for their latest multi-year Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores. These teams posted multi-year APR scores in the top 10 percent of all squads in their respective sports.
   The UNI men's basketball team has been recognized with a perfect APR score (1,000) in each of the last three seasons - the only MVC school to do that in each of the past three years.
   The APR provides a real-time look at a team's academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete on scholarship. The APR accounts for eligibility, retention and graduation and provides a measure of each team's academic performance.
