UNI-SFA - TAKE TWO
It marks the second straight season that UNI and Stephen F. Austin will meet in ESPN's 24 Hours of College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon.Â
   The Panthers scored a 79-77 overtime win last season in Nacogdoches, Texas, in a game that saw SFA's 34-game home-court win streak snapped.
BREAKFAST WITH BILL
UNI President Bill Ruud will be serving doughnuts and chocolate milk to UNI students prior to the UNI-Stephen F. Austin men's basketball game. The McLeod Center doors will open at 6 a.m.Â
   Doughnuts will be provided by Casey's General Stores and the chocolate milk is courtesy Land O'Lakes.
STEPHEN F. AUSTIN
No NCAA Division I men's basketball coach has piled up more wins through his first two seasons at the helm of a program than SFA head coach Brad Underwood, who is the owner of a 61-8 record. The winning percentage of .884 that comes along with that lofty mark is the third-best through two seasons in NCAA Division I men's basketball history.
   Reigning Southland Conference Player of the Year and two-time All-American Thomas Walkup headlines a strong contingent of returners for SFA. Of the five regular starters from a season ago, the 'Jacks retained the services of four of them including Walkup, sophomore Ty Charles, junior Dallas Cameron and senior Trey Pinkney.
   SFA will enter Tuesday's game at 0-1 after a 97-55 loss at Baylor last Friday to open the season.Â
UNI VS. SFA SERIES
UNI owns a 3-0 lead in the all-time
series vs. Stephen F. Austin.Â
   Last season, UNI posted a 79-77 overtime win over SFA in Nacogdoches, Texas, to snap the Lumberjacks' 34-game home-court winning streak.
   UNI scored an 80-71 win over SFA in Nacogdoches (1/7/89).
   UNI also tallied a 120-96 win over SFA in the UNI-Dome (1/6/90).
LOHAUS PLAYED A KEY ROLE
UNI sophomore guard Wyatt Lohaus played a key role in helping the Panthers score a 79-77 overtime win over Stephen F. Austin last season.
   In his first road performance as a collegian, Lohaus scored a career-high 11 points, including seven in the second half.
   With UNI trailing 52-46 with 14:30 left in the game, Lohaus sank back-to-back 3-pointers to tie the game at 52-52.
MORGAN BREAKS OUT VS CSU
UNI junior guard Jeremy Morgan scored a career-high 20 points in UNI's season-opener vs. Colorado State (Nov. 14).Â
   Morgan drained 6-of-8 field goal attempts and was a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line against the Rams. Morgan also added six rebounds and two steals. In 33 minutes of action, he did not commit a turnover.
   It was Morgan's 17th career double-figure scoring game as a Panther.
WASHPUN CAN SCORE IT, DISH IT
Senior guard Wes Washpun posted 19 points and had seven assists in UNI's season opener vs. Colorado State.
   It was Washpun's 24th double-figure scoring game at UNI.
PANTHERS HIT THE BOARDS
UNI enjoyed a 34-33 rebounding advantage against Colorado State.Â
   UNI senior guard Paul Jesperson tied a career-high with eight caroms vs. the Rams.
FOR STARTERS
UNI's starting five vs. Colorado State consisted of Matt Bohannon, Paul Jesperson, Bennett Koch, Jeremy Morgan and Wes Washpun.
   Bohannon and Morgan are the two returning starters from last year's 31-4 Panther squad.
   Jesperson started 33 career games at the University of Virginia before transferring to UNI. His last start prior to Saturday's contest vs. Colorado State came March 27, 2013, vs. Iowa in the NIT.
   Washpun started 29 games as a sophomore for the Panthers. His last start previous to Saturday's game vs. Colorado State came March 7, 2014, in the MVC Tournament vs. Southern Illinois.
   Koch made his first career start on Saturday vs. Colorado State. Koch came off the bench in all 28 games he played as a redshirt freshman in 2014-15.

   UNI began the season with an 84-78 loss to Colorado State. UNI will play host to Stephen F. Austin on ESPN2 on Tues., Nov. 14.
   Next Saturday, UNI will take on No. 1-ranked North Carolina in the McLeod Center.
   The Panthers will also tangle with No. 7-ranked Iowa State (Dec. 19) in Des Moines.Â

UNI MBB IN APR TOP-10 PERCENTÂ
The University of Northern Iowa men's basketball, men's golf, women's golf, women's cross country and women's volleyball teams have been recognized by the NCAA for their latest multi-year Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores. These teams posted multi-year APR scores in the top 10 percent of all squads in their respective sports.
   The UNI men's basketball team has been recognized with a perfect APR score (1,000) in each of the last three seasons - the only MVC school to do that in each of the past three years.
   The APR provides a real-time look at a team's academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete on scholarship. The APR accounts for eligibility, retention and graduation and provides a measure of each team's academic performance.
MBB INKS TWO IN EARLY SIGNING
UNI has announced the signing of Tanner Lohaus and Juwan McCloud to National Letters-of-Intent to play for UNI Beginning in 2016-17.
   Lohaus (North Liberty, Iowa/Iowa City West HS) is a 6'7" 205-pound forward. Lohaus helped Iowa City West to the 2014 state championship for head coach Steve Bergman and a 23-3 record. Lohaus guided Iowa City West to a third-place finish in the 2015 state tournament with a 25-1 record. As a junior, Lohaus averaged 11.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists. He earned second-team all-Mississippi Valley Conference honors as a junior. He is the son of Anne Lohaus and Brad Lohaus. He is the younger brother of UNI sophomore guard Wyatt Lohaus.
   Juwan McCloud (Germantown, Wis./Germantown HS) is a 5'11" 150-pound guard. McCloud was named the North Shore Conference player of the year after helping lead the Warhawks to their sixth consecutive league crown. McCloud led Germantown HS to the Division I state championship game as a junior. He averaged 16.7 points per game as Germantown posted a mark of 27-1 in 2014-15 for then head coach Steve Showalter. McCloud played AAU with the Wisconsin Swing coached by Justin Litscher. He is the son of Brian and Mellisa McCloud. He has an older brother, Jalen.
