Men's Golf Captures Zach Johnson Invite Team Title

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa - The University of Northern Iowa men's golf team secured the team title at the 2015 Zach Johnson Invitational held at Glen Oaks Country Club on Tuesday.
It marks UNI's first team crown since the Panthers won the ORU Shootout on April 14, 2015.
The Panthers held off Missouri Valley Conference foe Bradley by seven strokes down the stretch to score the crown. UNI posted a team score of 874, while Bradley finished with a score of 881. Oral Roberts finished third, a stroke behind Bradley, at 882.
Eric Sikkema led the Panther effort with a second-place finish in the individual race with scores of 72-71-72 (+2). Sikkema played his final 12 holes on Tuesday in 2-under par. He scored birdies at No. 9, No. 11 and No. 15. Sikkema tallied 37 pars in the tournament to rank second in the field in total pars. His second-place effort is the best finish of his collegiate career.
Dustin Atkinson posted his third-straight top-10 finish of the fall with a tie for fourth on Tuesday with rounds of 72-75-70 (+4). Atkinson bogeyed three of his first five holes but then played the rest of his round at 4-under par. Atkinson scored an eagle at No. 9 and added birdies at No. 1, No. 8, No. 13 and No. 14.
Kyle Driscoll added his second straight top-10 finish with a tie for seventh after posting scores of 77-71-71 (+6). Driscoll notched three birdies on the day at No. 1, No. 6 and No. 11.
Jacob Bermel recorded a team-best nine birdies in the tournament. He finished his Tuesday round in style by birdieing two of his last three holes (No. 1 and No. 3). Bermel finished 22nd in the tournament with scores of 80-68-79 (+14).
Jared Rowe tied for 45th in the field after scores of 82-80-75 (+19). Rowe scored an eagle on No. 9, birdied No. 18 and then finished his round in style with a birdie on his final hole (No. 4). Rowe's final round 75 is the lowest round of his collegiate career - besting his previous mark of 78 from earlier this fall.
Marshal Lamb played as an individual in the tournament. Lamb tied for 32nd with scores of 75-78-79.
