UNI Sweeps Indiana State, 3-0

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - The University of Northern Iowa volleyball squad posted a 3-0 sweep of the visiting Indiana State University Sycamores on Saturday in the McLeod Center. UNI won by set scores of 25-19, 25-19, 25-22.
UNI freshman Piper Thomas led the way with 10 kills (.500 hitting percentage), four blocks and a service ace as the Panthers moved to 15-11 overall and 9-4 in the Missouri Valley Conference. Indiana State drops to 14-14 overall and 3-10 in league action. UNI improved to 29-0 all-time at home against Indiana State.
UNI limited Indiana State to an .073 hitting percentage in the match, which included a .000 mark in the opening set. UNI recorded a .225 hitting percentage in the match led by Thomas's .500 along with Lindsey Schulz's .357 hitting percentage and Kayla Haneline's .350 hitting percentage.
The Panthers also reached double-figures in team blocks for the seventh time this season with 10 blocks against the Sycamores. Haneline registered five blocks to earn match-high honors. Schulz and Thomas added four blocks for the home squad.
UNI will hit the road next week with matches at Missouri State (Friday) and Wichita State (Saturday).
