UNI Comes Up Short at Missouri State, 3-1

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The University of Northern Iowa volleyball team came up short at Missouri State on Friday, 3-1. The Bears won by set scores of 25-14, 25-22, 19-25, 25-16.
Missouri State avenged a five-set loss to UNI in Cedar Falls on Oct. 10 by knocking off the Panthers for the first time in three years at JQH Arena. Missouri State's Lily Johnson led the way with 20 kills (.413 hitting percentage) and 11 digs.
UNI freshman Kendyl Sorge tallied 28 digs, her second-highest total of the season. Sorge also added two assists and a service ace. Junior Amie Held and freshman Bri Weber each recorded double-doubles. Held had 13 kills and 10 digs, while Weber posted 13 kills and 11 digs. Freshman Piper Thomas recorded her fourth straight double-figure kill match with 11 kills (.333 hitting percentage).
UNI falls to 15-11 overall and 9-5 in Missouri Valley Conference play, while Missouri State improves to 17-9 overall and 8-5 in league play.
UNI will be back in action Saturday night in Wichita, Kan., against the Wichita State Shockers at 7 p.m. at Koch Arena.
