Panthers Set For Nebraska

Cedar Falls, Iowa---The University of Northern Iowa women's swimming team looks to open up the home season, this Friday, Oct 30 versus Nebraska at 4 p.m. The UNI swimming team went 2-2 with their first four meets of the season.
Molly Lembezeder has made a splash in her sophomore season for the Panthers. Lembezeder took first place in four events during meets against South Dakota and South Dakota State. Lembezeder swam in the 50 Freestyle and the 100 Freestyle events. Lembezeder nabbed a time of 26.68 in the 50 Freestyle, edging out fellow teammates Crystal Florman and Rachel Siebenaller for the top spot. Florman and Siebenaller took second and third places, respectively. Lembezeder also took home the top spot in the 100 Freestyle, swimming a time of 58.19. Lembezeder also hopped to third place in the record books in the 100 Freestyle, where she was just a second shy of her record, with a time of 52.31. Lembezeder was first in the Valley last week with her times.
Stephanie Jackson took home a first place finish in the 1000 Freestyle, with a time of 10:52.71, against South Dakota State on Oct 23.
Rachel Siebenaller also continued to swim towards the record boards, taking home first place finishes in the 200 Freestyle and the 500 Freestyle versus South Dakota State on Oct 23. Siebenaller took home two first place finishes of her own, in the 800 Freestyle and the 400 Freestyle respectively. Siebenaller was thirteen seconds ahead of her runner-up, swimming into a time of 9:23.57 in the 800 and five seconds ahead of the runner-up in the 400 with a time of 4:35.36 versus South Dakota, on Oct 22.
Veronica Herrmann also made a race for the top spot, taking home the first place spots in the 100 Breaststroke and the 200 Breaststroke, with times of 1:14.67 and 2:44.98 respectively against South Dakota on Oct. 22.
Awards for the Week
Senior Allie Bey (Forest Lake, Minn.) was named the Missouri Valley Conference Diver of the Week, as announced by the conference on Tuesday. Bey took home the first place spot in the 3-meter dive, with a score of 250.65. Bey also took the second place spot in the 1-meter dive, with a score of 237.60 versus South Dakota State.
Nebraska comes to the Glen F. Henry Pool with a 1-1 record to start the 2015-16 season. Action begins at 4 p.m. with free admission.
The Panthers return to the pool on Nov 6 at 5 p.m. playing host to Iowa Central and Loras.
