
UNI Rolls Ramblers, 73-49

CHICAGO, Ill. – The University of Northern Iowa women's basketball team rolled the Loyola Ramblers 73-49 Friday night, picking up its third win a row. The Panthers improved its overall record to 14-11 and is now 10-4 in MVC play.
Madison Weekly led the Panthers with a career-high 23 points, including six three-pointers made. Amber Sorenson chipped in 11 points coming off the bench while Jen Keitel and Hannah Schonhardt led the team in boards with six each.
The Panthers headed into the first media timeout with a 9-4 lead over the Ramblers after Kietel and Stephanie Davison connected under the basket for an easy layup. Weekly then headed out of the timeout by draining a three to put UNI up 12-6 at the 13:23 mark in the first half.
Keitel put UNI up by 10 points with 9:29 left in the half after grabbing a tough offensive rebound and getting the putback to make the score 18-8. Loyola was able to cut it back down to single digits, but Weekly answered with her third trey of the half, putting UNI back up by 12.
Loyola attempted to whittle the Panther lead down after scoring five unanswered points, but Keitel and Davison linked up under the basket again to put UNI up 31-17 with 3:56 remaining in the half. The Panthers headed into halftime with a 36-20 lead after Weekly scored five unanswered points to end the half.
The Panthers jumped out to a 44-25 lead with 16:31 on the clock in the second half after Schonhardt found Weekly running into the lane. Weekly was fouled on the layup with the bucket counting and then converted on her free throw to finish the three-point play.
UNI hit back-to-back three-pointers from Weekly and Brittni Donaldson at the 12:55 mark, putting UNI up 55-31. The Panthers continued rolling the Ramblers with 7:19 left in the game when Erin Dohnalek scored UNI's 12th trey of the game to make the score 62-37.
The Panther were able to keep a 20-plus point lead for the remaining minutes in the game, giving UNI the 73-49 win.
Post-Game Notes vs. Loyola
Madison Weekly reached double figures for the fifth time this season against Loyola, chipping in a career-high 23 points. It is the most the true freshman has scored during MVC play, finishing with a career-high six three-pointers made.
Madison Weekly's six made three-pointers ties for second all-time at UNI in treys made in a game. She is only the 15th player in UNI history to achieve the mark.
UNI's bench outscored the Ramblers 43-17. Amber Sorenson led the Panthers off the bench with 11 points.
UNI finished with 13 made three-pointers, tying their season-high. The Panthers have notched 10 or more made treys six times this season, including twice in the last three games.
UNI has reached 70 or more points in three straight games. The Panthers are now 10-0 this season when scoring 70 or more points.
UNI had 22 assists on 24 made field goals.
