
UNI Tops Missouri State, 79-60

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The University of Northern Iowa women's basketball team topped the Missouri State Lady Bears Friday night, 79-60. The Panthers improved to 8-4 in the Missouri Valley Conference and 12-11 overall.
Stephanie Davison led the Panthers with 21 points, seven rebounds and three assists. UNI also had three other players finish in double figures with Brooke Brown, Amber Sorenson and Brittni Donaldson all reaching double-digits.
The Panthers got off to a strong start, leading the Lady Bears 11-3 with 16:51 to play in the first half after UNI drained three three-pointers to start the game. Donaldson hit two of the Panthers first three-pointers of the game, scoring a quick six points in the first two minutes of the game.
UNI took an 11-point lead with 13:06 on the clock when Sorenson pulled up for a mid-range jumper to give UNI a 20-9 lead over MSU. On the next play, Tyonna Snow was able to sneak into the lane for a layup to cut the Panther lead back down to single digits.
Missouri State was able to knock the Panthers' lead down to eight points, but Brown answered with another trey to give UNI a 25-14 lead with 10:53 left in the first half. UNI then took a 39-16 lead with 4:04 remaining when Sorenson knocked down UNI's sixth three-pointer of the game.
UNI went into halftime with a 45-23 lead over the Lady Bears. The Panthers scored eight three-pointers in the first half, a new season-high for UNI in one half of basketball.
Brown gave the Panthers a 54-34 lead to start the second half, draining her second trey of the game with 16:39 on the clock. Missouri State's Katie Palmer was able to score six consecutive points for the Lady Bears, cutting the lead back under 20 points, making the score 56-41.
T. Snow scored eight unanswered points for Missouri State starting at the 12:11 mark in the half, cutting the UNI lead down to 63-50. Davison put an end to the MSU run after finding herself in the lane for a jumper to make the score 65-50 with 10:19 left to play in the game.
Erin Dohnalek then scored four unanswered points for the Panthers, putting UNI back up by over 20 points with less than seven minutes remaining. UNI continued to put the pressure on the Lady Bears, with MSU unable to make up the ground, giving UNI a 79-60 victory.

Madison Weekly notched her first start since December 10, 2013 against South Dakota.
UNI scored eight three-pointers in just the first half of the game against Missouri State, notching a new season-high three-pointers made in one half of basketball.
UNI had 12 players see action against Missouri State with four reaching double figures and seven players scoring five or more points.
Stephanie Davison scored a team and game-high 21 points against Missouri State, just two points shy of her career-high 23.
