UNI Wins Again at Wichita State, 3-1

WICHITA, Kansas - The University of Northern Iowa volleyball squad moved to 4-0 in Missouri Valley Conference play with a 3-1 win over the Wichita State Shockers at Koch Arena on Friday.
UNI (9-6 overall, 4-0 MVC) won for the sixth straight time at Koch Arena. The Panthers defeated the Shockers by set scores of 25-21, 19-25, 25-19, 25-13. Wichita State fell to 9-6 overall and 3-2 in league play.
UNI battled back from an early first-set deficit to score a 25-21 victory. Wichita State raced out to leads of 10-6 and 12-8. UNI responded with a 14-4 run to take a commanding 22-16 lead. The Shockers closed to within 22-19 but could not shrink the margin any smaller and the Panthers earned the win, 25-21.
The Shockers used a .394 hitting percentage in the second set to score a 25-19 win over the Panthers. UNI led 9-5 but WSU quickly tied the set at 10-10. The squads were tid at 17-17, when the Shockers took control of the second set. WSU went on a 7-1 run to take a 24-18 lead en route to the 25-19 set win. The Shockers posted 17 kills and only four errors in the set.
The Panthers took a 2-1 set lead with a strong finish to the third set. UNI and WSU were deadlocked at 17-17 when the Panthers reeled off a 5-1 run to take a 22-18 lead. Kills from Lindsey Schulz and Autumn Alitz allowed the Panthers to score their final two points and win the set, 25-19. UNI hit. .303 in the third set with 14 kills and committed only four attack errors.
UNI dominated the fourth set to the tune of 25-13. The Panthers led 10-7 and used a 9-2 run to blow the set open. The Panthers eventually doubled up the Shockers at 24-12 before scoring the victory, 25-13. UNI took 28 attacks in the fourth set, committed no errors, and recorded 15 kills for a .536 attack percentage.
UNI will be in action Saturday night in Springfield, Mo., against the Missouri State Bears. The match will begin at 7 p.m.
NOTES: UNI has won 12 of its last 14 matches at Wichita State, including the last six in a row ... Kinsey Caldwell led UNI with 37 assists, 12 digs, five kills and three service aces ... Ashlee Sinnott posted a team-high 18 digs as the libero ... Leigh Pudwill recorded a team-best 15 kills ... true freshman Delaney Bolton tallied a career-high 11 digs in only her second collegiate match ... UNI has won seven of its last eight matches after starting the season 2-6.
