CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - The University of Northern Iowa swimming and diving team took on South Dakota at the Glen F. Henry Pool today at 1 p.m. The Panthers defeated the Coyotes 196 - 104.
400 Medley Relay
The Panthers jumped out to a fast start with a win in the 400 medley relay. Aftin Phyfe, Veronica Herrmann, Taylor Ostrowski and Molly Lembezeder combined for a final time of 3:59.45 in their winning effort.
1000 Freestyle
Freshmen Rachel Siebenaller took top honors in the 1000 freestyle. Siebenaller completed her 1000 freestyle in a final time of 10:47.15
200 Freestyle
South Dakota's Sam Shuttinger took first place in the 200 freestyle. UNI junior Sierra Sachtjen captured second-place for the Panthers with a time of 1:59.09.
100 Backstroke
With a final time of 1:01.05 sophomore Aftin Phyfe captured first-place in the 100 backstroke. Freshmen Bailey Moulden placed sixth with a final time of 1:04.13.
100 Breaststroke
Veronica Herrmann continued her dominance in the 100 breaststroke with a first-place finish in a time of 1:08.63. Senior Stephanie Paape finished in a close second to Herrmann, finishing in a time of 1:08.70.
200 Butterfly
The Panthers dominated the podium in the 200 butterfly, capturing first, second and third places. Taylor Ostrowski, Stephanie Jackson and Lindsey Phelps finished first through third place respectively. Ostrowski's first-place finish came in a time of 2:10.25.
50 Freestyle
UNI enjoyed another podium sweep in the 50 freestyle. Freshmen Rachel Siebenaller finished third with a final time of 25.34, junior Miki Freese captured second-place in a time of 24.88 and freshmen Molly Lembezeder won the event with a final time of 23.96
1 Meter Diving
Juniors Allie Bey and Sarah Kemp led the way for the Panthers in the 1 meter dive. Kemp finished runner up to her teammate with a final dive score of 251.77. Bey's first-place finish came with a total dive score of 253.42.
100 Freestyle
Freshmen Molly Lembezeder finished first and nearly broke a school record at last weekend's dual against SDSU. Today against USD the Freshman once again placed first in the 100 freestyle with a final time of 52.55. Miki Freese and Elise Drewsen finished third and fourth respectively for the Panthers in the 100 freestyle.
200 Backstroke
Junior Sierra Sachtjen captured first-place in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:10.97. Sophomore Aftin Phyfe finished a close second to Sachtjen with a final time of 2:11.58. Freshman Bailey Moulden captured fifth-place for the Panthers in the 200 backstroke.
200 Breaststroke
Sophomore Veronica Herrmann picked up in the 200 breaststroke where she left off in the 100, taking first-place in a final time of 2:28.68. Jill Georgen and Stephanie Paape finished third and fourth respectively in the 200 breaststroke.
500 Freestyle
Coyotes distance swimmer Sam Schuttinger took first-place in the 500 freestyle with a final time of 5:06.50. UNI freshman swimmer Rachel Siebenaller was runner up in the 500 freestyle, finishing with a time of 5:14.24. Freshman Maya Appleton also showed well in the event with a fourth-place finish.
100 Butterfly
Taylor Ostrowski finished a very close second to teammate Stephanie Jackson in the 100 fly. Ostrowski's final time was 1:00.30 compared to Jackson's final time of 1:00.27.
3 Meter Dive
Greysen Hertting captured the 3 meter dive win for South Dakota with a total score of 249.15. Allie Bey, Sarah Kemp and freshman Jessica Misra placed second through fourth respectively for UNI. Bey's second-place finish came with a dive score of 244.27.
200 IM
Sophomore Aftin Phyfe led the way for the Panthers in the 200 IM with a first-place finish in a time of 2:15.39. Taylor Ostrowski and Stephanie Jackson rounded out the top finishers for the Panthers in the 200 IM, placing third and fourth respectively.
200 Medley Relay
The Panthers would finish just as strong as they began their dual against USD with a victory in the 200 medley relay. The team of Molly Lembezeder, Miki Freese, Rachel Siebenaller and Sierra Sachtjen took the top spot on the podium, finishing in a time of 1:38.33.

The Panthers will be back in the Glen F. Henry Pool on Saturday, November 15th at 2 p.m. when they will play host to the Illinois State Redbirds.
