
South Dakota State Gets the Best of the Panthers in the Pool

BROOKINGS, S.D.- The University of Northern Iowa swimming and diving team was defeated by the South Dakota State Jackrabbits 191-103 Friday night in Brookings.
Taylor Ostrowski won the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:08.74. She also took second in the 100 butterfly, finishing in a time of 1:00.72.
Natalie Johnson had a first place finish for the Panthers as well. Johnson won the 200 backstroke, finishing in a time of 2:11.43. She placed second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:00.37.
Sarah Kemp finished first in the 1-meter dive with 226.13 points. She also took second in the 3-meter dive with 219.45 points. Freshman Ashlyn Clingman took third place in the 3-meter dive, finishing with 164.41 points.
Freshman Aftin Phyfe had a third place finish in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:00.01. She also took third in the 100 freestyle, finishing with a time of 55.15. Fellow freshman Steph Jackson finished third in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 11:02.48 and third in the 500 freestyle, finishing in 5:30.47. Freshman Veronica Herrmann took third place in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:08.78.
Ashley Nelson took the runner-up spot in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:29.27. Caryn Knight placed second in the 200 IM with a time of 2:15.94. Miki Freese took third place in the 50 freestyle with a time of 25.37 and fellow Panthers Elise Drewsen finished fourth in 25.65.
