
WBB Defeats Saint Louis, 73-64; Four Reach Double Figures

Jacqui Kalin led the team with 25 points and almost notched a triple-double with nine assists and nine rebounds. Three other Panthers' finished in double figures with Brittni Donaldson notching 12 points, Jess McDowell with 10 points and Jen Keitel finishing with 15 points.
Both teams got off to a slow shooting start with only 10 points being scored in the first five minutes of the game. Jen Keitel scored the Panthers first six points, giving them a 6-4 lead with 14:55 left in the half.
Hannah Schonhardt knocked down a three-pointer with 12:01 left in the half to give the Panthers a 14-10 lead. Stephanie Davison extended UNI's 9-0 run with another three-pointer from the top of the key making the score 19-10.
Saint Louis was able to cut the Panther lead to five off a deep three-pointer from Jacy Bradley, but Brooke Brown answered on the next play with a three of her own. Brown's three-pointer gave the Panthers a 24-16 lead with 7:39 left in the half.
Kalin gave UNI another large lead off a big three-pointer with a jumper to follow on the next play, making the score 33-20 with less than three minutes remaining. The Panthers ended the half on a last second three-pointer from Jess McDowell to give them a 39-22 lead off an 11-2 run.
Brittni Donaldson opened the second half with the Panthers first five points off a quick layup, followed by a three-pointer to give UNI a 44-24 lead. Saint Louis was able to cut the UNI lead to 14 points off a UNI turnover, but Donaldson ended their run with her second three-pointer of the game to give UNI the lead of 47-30 with 15:37 left in the game.
Saint Louis was able to cut the lead to 12 points of a 6-0 run sparked by Mallory Eggert to make the score 52-40 with 11:29 on the clock. Eggert cut the UNI lead to a single digit with 9:47 left in the game to make the score 52-44.
Donaldson hit her third three-pointer of the game on the next play to end the Billiken run and score the Panthers' first field goal since the 13:18 mark. Donaldson's three gave the Panthers an 11 point lead making the score 55-44.
Kalin hit UNI's 11th three-pointer of the game to make the score 58-47 with 7:44 left in the game. The Panther defense stepped up on the next play keeping the Billikens' from cutting the lead to single digits, forcing Saint Louis to their seventh turnover.
Saint Louis cut the Panther lead to six points with less than five minutes left in the game off a three-pointer from Bradley making the score 58-52. Courtney Webb then converted a layup to give the Panthers their smallest lead of the game since the first half, making the score 58-55 with 3:46 on the clock.
Kalin hit a pivotal three-pointer with 2:51 left in the game to give UNI a 62-55 lead. Donaldson then came up with a big defensive rebound on the other end, which transitioned to another three-pointer from Kalin to make the score 65-55.
Kalin kept her run alive with a jumper on the Panthers' next offensive possession to put her over the 20-point mark and give UNI a 12-point lead. Bradley cut the UNI lead to eight points with 41 seconds left in the game off her third three-pointer of the game to make the score 69-61.
Kalin hit four clutch free-throws in the final 30 seconds of the game to give the Panthers the 73-64 victory over Saint Louis.
Post-Game Notes vs. Saint Louis
Hannah Schonhardt notched her first career start against the Billikens of Saint Louis. She is the only true freshman on the team that has played this season. She finished with a career high 10 rebounds.
Brittni Donaldson has hit at least one three-pointer in 10 of the 12 games this season. The game against Saint Louis marked the fourth game this season that she has hit three or more three-pointers in a game.
Jacqui Kalin is now the all-time career leader in three-pointers at UNI with 207. She finished the game against Saint Louis with five three-pointers.
