
UNI Flies Past Western Illinois, Comes Up Short to Iowa

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The University of Northern Iowa swimming and diving team finish their regular season meets with a win over Western Illinois. The Panthers fell to Iowa. Team scores were unavailable at time of release.
Stephanie Frederick swam a season-best time in the 50 freestyle. She clocked in with a time of 24.46.
Natalie Johnson took second in the 50 backstroke, finishing with a time of 28.32. Teammate Jaime Pearson followed behind in third place, finishing in 28.64.
Ashley Mangrich led the Panthers in the 50 breaststroke. She took the runner-up spot with a time of 31.42. Caryn Knight took third with a time of 31.72
Bethany Olson took third in both the 1 and 3 meter dives. She finished the 1-meter dive with 258.70 points and 3-meter with 253.60 points.
The 200 freestyle relay finished in second, with a time season-best time of 1:39.77. Members of the relay team were Stephanie Frederick, MacKenzie Smith, Rebecca Ortmann and Josie Itzen.
The Panthers next action will be at the 2011 State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Championships. The Panthers will head to Carbondale, Ill. for competition starting on Feb. 17 and continuing through Feb. 19.
