CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - Junior Christian Brantley scored a major decision win the final match of the dual to push the University of Northern Iowa wrestling team past No. 24-ranked Ohio State 20-19 in the consolation round of the 2011 NWCA National Duals Saturday afternoon.

The Panthers got wins from Caleb Flores (125 lbs.), Brett Robbins (149 lbs.), David Bonin (157 lbs.), Ryan Loder (184 lbs.) and Christian Brantley (285 lbs.) in the dual. Robbins, Bonin and Brantley all picked up bonus team points for the Panthers as Robbins and Brantley scored major decision wins and Bonin won by fall.

Flores opened the dual with an 8-3 decision over Ohio State's Bo Touris to give UNI an early 3-0 lead. OSU picked up wins at 133 pounds and 141 pounds, including a major decision win at 141 pounds, to take a 7-3 lead.

Robbins and Bonin put the Panthers back on top as Robbins scored an 11-3 major decision over Mike Fee at 149 pounds. Bonin then secured a pin over Sean Nemec in 2:34 to give UNI the 13-7 lead.

Ohio State came back to tie the dual at 13-13, scoring decision wins at 165 and 174 pounds. Loder gave the Panthers the lead again at 16-13 with a 6-4 decision over Cody Magrum at 184 pounds.

The Buckeyes regained the lead, going up 19-16 with a pin at 197 pounds. Brantley then scored a 13-3 major decision to give the Panthers the 20-19 dual win.

This is UNI's first win over a ranked opponent this season.

UNI will wrestle the loser of the Oklahoma State vs. Virgina Tech match at 5 p.m.
