WATERLOO, Iowa -- The University of Northern Iowa women's soccer team had multiple scoring opportunities late but settled for a scoreless draw after two overtimes against South Dakota on Sunday afternoon at the Cedar Valley Soccer Complex.
UNI (2-9-2) outshot South Dakota by a 20-9 margin but was unable to record a goal. The Panthers also took 13 corner kicks in the contest.
Freshman Claire Clark drove a shot off the crossbar in the 49th minute for the Panthers. Eight minutes later, Ashley Sill also hit the crossbar with a shot.
Freshman goalkeeper Erin Zaideman registered six saves in the shutout, including a big stop of a South Dakota attack in the 62nd minute. The double-overtime shutout was Zaideman's second of the season.
UNI had a potential goal game-winning goal by Megan Cameron negated in the 97th minute by an offsides call.
The Panthers outshot the Coyotes, 15-4, over the second half and two overtime periods.
South Dakota (3-6-2) was led by goalkeeper Jen Ogren's seven saves.
UNI will travel to Illinois State for a Missouri Valley Conference match on Oct. 8. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
